Mixing it Up

Vintage cardigan from Goodwill / Altru t-shirt from Out of the Closet
H&M shorts from Buffalo Exchange / Shoes from Payless / Vintage bracelet from Day-Lab

This outfit is the exact opposite of the one in my last post. I never even considered putting these pieces together before this week, and I almost always wear these shorts and this t-shirt (separately) the same way over and over again. I decided to mix it up this time! I always thought of these shorts as only for fall and winter, but I think I'll try to work them into my spring wardrobe more. They're actually long enough that I don't have to wear tights, so I might as well explore those possibilities! I'll take just about any excuse to wear this t-shirt, so remixing it again and again shouldn't be a problem. Time to head back to the closet and see what else it works with!

Do you have an outfit that you wear over and over again, completely unchanged? Something that you can just throw on when you don't feel like thinking in the morning because you've worn it exactly that way so many times before and you already know it works? Well, this is that outfit for me. I've been wearing this exact outfit, pretty much unchanged for years. Hey, if it ain't broke...

Whatcha Wearing?
Blouse, pants, and cuff from H&M / Sunglasses from Nordstrom
Vintage tie from Buffalo Exchange / Vintage cardigan and heels from Crossroads Trading Co

I was in Las Vegas part of last week for a work conference, and this is what I wore one of the days. My wardrobe in sadly lacking in business casual options, so I made a quick trip to H&M to put together the base of this outfit. I think I succeeded in being event appropriate while still having fun with my usual colorful vintage style...what do you think? The pants are actually longer than this, but I thought a cropped look was better, so I just cuffed them under.

Dress c/o eShakti
Bass flats from Crossroads Trading Co / Bracelet from Target

I was so happy when eShakti reached out to me to ask if I wanted to sample something from their Spring/Summer collection. To me, this is the perfect summer dress...simple, but effortlessly put together at the same time. It doesn't get any easier than this!

The great thing about eShakti is that you can customize the size and shape of the piece you purchase. I gave them my measurements and changed the length of the dress from below the knee to above the knee. You can also choose to have pretty much any dress made with or without pockets. I'm not sure why anyone wouldn't want pockets (I love them!), but it's great to have options. I did some of my own customization by wrapping the ties around and making a bow in the front instead of tying it in the back. I can't wait to wear this dress to a summertime picnic!

Shorts and bracelet from Target / Tank top from American Apparel
Vintage cardigan from Buffalo Exchange / Boots from Shoe Carnival
Necklace from Beacon's Closet / Tights from Gap

So I took an unexpected leave of absence from the blogging world after I was hit by a car while riding my bike home from work last month. Wear your helmets kids! My helmet is the reason that the car's windshield was shattered, but my head remained in one piece. I figured it was time to start taking pictures again since I'm now healed up for the most part.

I actually wore this outfit last weekend to a friend's birthday celebration at a bar in Venice. I LOVE these shorts! They're lightweight and floaty and perfect to pair with tights or leggings. I bought them new at Target, so odds are you can snap them up at your local store. I highly recommend them.

Free People dress from Buffalo Exchange / Blouse from Philly AIDS Thrift
Tights from Gap / AK Anne Klein boots from Beacon's Closet
Vintage bag from Beyond Retro

I fell in love with this dress when I found it at Buffalo Exchange a few years ago, but I've only worn it three times. There's just something about it that doesn't quite feel...me. When I told Matt that I wasn't sure if I liked this outfit, he said "Why, because it has a renaissance festival thing going on?". Well, I guess that's exactly why! I'm not sure if the whole hippy-ish, ren-fest thing is really my style. The dress is just so pretty that I decided I didn't care! I think I'm making it work with my style with the bright tights and buttoned up blouse underneath. What do you think?

Vintage blouse from Beyond Retro / Cope dress from Buffalo Exchange
Vintage hat from Atlanis Attic / Tights from We Love Colors
Sunglasses from Brick Lane Market / Soda boots from Shoe Carnival

On Saturday night, Matt and I headed to Hollywood to check out a comedy show, and then grabbed a couple beers at our favorite German beer place, Wurstküche. Oh, the wonderful German and Belgian beers they have on tap there, including one of my favorites, Spaten Optimator. So delicious!

These sunglasses and this blouse were both amazing finds from the same trip to London a few years ago. They quickly became two of the most worn things in my wardrobe, and I love how they remind me of that trip every time I put them on. Do you guys have clothing that you bought on vacation that give you great memories when you wear them?
